GSM-based cellular operators request TRAI to share data on fixed wireless telephone services
GSM-based cellular operators have approached TRAI, requesting it G to share its data with them on fixed wireless telephone (FWT) services being offered by private operators. The operators want data on the number of FWT connections since inception of the service, the average minutes of use and the average revenue per user on these lines. The operators note that the data will have a significant financial implication and a major bearing on the ongoing interconnect usage charge and ADC review. The GSM operators believe that FWT service providers have been offering mobility services while collecting ADC on claims that the service being offered was a fixed service. This has created an uneven playing field for cellular operators who do not get the benefits of ADC.
